Information Commissioner (ICO)
The Information Commissioner is the UK's independent authority set up to:-
- promote access to official information in England, Wales (including matters devolved to the Welsh Assembly), Northern Ireland (including matters devolved to the Northern Ireland Assembly), and also about matters reserved to Westminster that relate to Scotland
- and to protect personal information throughout the UK.
The ICO produces technical guidance for organisations that use information and for individuals who want to know their rights and regulates relevant legislation except for devolved matters in Scotland.

Scottish Information Commissioner
The Scotish Information Commissioner (SIO) promotes access to official information about devolved matters relating to Scotland. The SIO regulates relevant legislation within that jurisdiction.
